Founded in 1984, BlueChoice HealthPlan was one of the first Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) in South Carolina. Originally known as Companion HealthCare, it was the first HMO offered by BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina.
BlueChoice HealthPlan delivers comprehensive health insurance coverage for its members. They’ve contracted with many of the state's hospitals and doctors in their plans. They've also earned full, three-year accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Thousands of South Carolinians enjoy the benefits of BlueChoice HealthPlan.
